Minerva Cayman registers with The Ministry of Education

Ministry of Education certificate

The Cayman Islands Ministry of Education has verified and registered Minerva Cayman as an educational institution. This milestone certification marks the launch of the academy run by Minerva Cayman – the ‘Minerva Academy’.

Minerva Academy is the local training solution. The Academy also runs etiquette courses giving individuals all the formulas and background knowledge to feel confident in every social and professional setting. Our training courses are specifically designed for domestic staff to UHNW and high profile individuals and families, busy professionals and individuals who travel extensively and who are in need of reliable, well-informed support at their home base or their Cayman vacation property.

The Academy’s courses are designed to benefit people from all walks of life, from ordinary domestic helpers to ambitious professionals, and can be tailored to cover any private or professional setting. The Minerva Academy is supported by The British Butler Institute, a world leader in residential staff training and an expert in the traditional British style, which is widely considered to represent the gold standard in service for private residences and embassies worldwide. A first of its kind in Cayman, the Academy is run by certified trainers who bring their experience, passion and sensitivity to our classrooms.

Emé de Vries, Managing Director of Minerva Cayman, said: “The Minerva Academy was founded to help domestic staff attain the exceptional standards of service that residents of the Cayman Islands increasingly need and expect. When domestic service is substandard, simple tasks become time consuming and clients’ belongings can be irreversibly damaged. It is often not the fault of the domestic workers, who usually come from overseas and often don’t have the skills required to look after luxury homes. It is my hope that the Academy will help professionalise this line of work, protect employers and workers, safeguard possessions and improve workers’ skills in line with increasing expectations in the Cayman Islands. Our etiquette courses have a different focus: teaching the “highway code” of social interaction.
